Although long hours in the machines are just a part of farming, this season is already pushing the limits.
It’s that time of year: the snow has melted, and long hours of seeding await. But for many of you, the annual seeding routine is second, only after combining last fall’s crop. So, in effort to stave away he solitary, combine “cab-fever”, the following are a series of some of my favorite podcasts that might strike your fancy, and keep you awake as you rush to meet the seasons tight deadlines; proving… that we not only try to get you the best grain prices, we try to make you as entertained as possible while doing it. Enjoy!
Joe Rogan Podcast:
One of the most popular podcasts in the world, and one of the most accessible. Joe Rogan is a stand-up comedian, bow hunter, yoga enthusiast, Elk meat advocate, UFC commentator, family man and all-round fitness freak. He is about as every-man as it gets and fits the epitome of well-roundedness. Chances are, whatever you are into, he has had an expert in that field on the podcast. Everything from: animal experts, world leaders, celebrities, comedians, wrestlers and scientists are regular staples on his show.
Jocko Willink:
A decorated navy seal, author and public speaker—”Jocko Podcast” is a platform where Willink explores his philosophy of “extreme ownership”—involving the use of decades-worth of battlefield tactics he utilizes to help others win. Jockocast also has a regular assortment of guests in which he interviews, probing through various philosophical ideas in order to make sense of life and current events.
Bill Burr Monday Morning Podcast:
This one might not be for when the family is around. Bill Burr is a famous comedian from Boston, a drummer and helicopter pilot, who has various specials on Netflix, and hosts a podcast out of his house every Monday. He actively discusses sports with his signature irish-temper tone, as well as current events, and offers life advice in stereotypical Bostonian fashion. He is as equally as funny as he is angry, and never boring.
Coast to Coast AM:
Definitely out-there and completely nutty—but also a classic. Coast to Coast Am has some of the most absurd topics of any podcas,t covering everything paranormal under the sun. You might not learn anything terribly useful, but you won’t wake up combining the wrong field two farms over either, as this podcast will certainly keep you awake. Covering topics such as: area 51, cryptozoology, time travel, lost civilizations, sasquatch sightings and a bunch of other kooky stuff… if nothing else, this podcast is certainly fun.
Timcast:
If you are into in-depth political news and current events, the Tim Poole podcast explores all sorts of leading world issues every day, with breaking scandals, regular guests and a perspective not endorsed by mainstream media. Tim Poole is a former Vice Media journalist who offers a gritty and scathing, nonpartisan take, in a tell-it-like-it-is manner.
Dan Carlin Hardcore History:
For the music lovers out there: non-political, non-controversial yet incredibly interesting, Hardcore History with Dan Carlin, is a podcast about music of almost every genre. He goes into depth discussing the lifestyle, inspiration and events that shaped some of your favorite musicians and genres.
Art of Manliness Podcast:
The AOM podcast is the gift that keeps on giving—offering advice on everything from: simple life-hacks, hygiene/grooming tips, the importance of key historical events, to stoic philosophical ideals that routinely emphasize the pursuit of “the strenuous life”, the AOM is as broad in topics as it is interesting. Famous authors, military men, speakers, scholars, farmers, tradesmen and various other experts and persons of renown are routine guests on the show. Be sure to give it a gander.
