Introducing . . . Bryce Taylor!

By February 16, 2022Blog

As a youngster, Bryce was brought up as a city boy in the suburbs of Toronto, Ontario. His parents decided, luckily for him, that they needed to get away from the big city life and moved their family to small town southwestern Ontario.

During his high school years, Bryce was getting his hands dirty learning how to prep land, plant and harvest crops for local farmers. Later, he was offered an opportunity to help run a cash crop and cow calf family farm where he raised his family.

He was a crop planner and grain marketer. Always looking for the best opportunities to sell his grain. After leaving the operation he settled down on a hobby farm where he worked at a grain elevator receiving grain from farmers and talking about grain prices with farmers.

After spending 3 decades producing and handling grain, he decided to start a new career marketing grain. He now spends his working days enthusiastically working with the Agfinity Team to help find the best grain selling and buying opportunities. Outside of working hours, he enjoys his time with the love of his life on their hobby farm and watching his adult children succeed in their own lives.

Because Farming is Forever

Buyer Brief – by Sandra Correia-Letendre

As we continue to deal with trucker blockades, we are seeing movement with government on Covid 19 restrictions. These blockades have created delays in deliveries of many goods including grain. As stated in the Western Producer February 15, 2022, issue by Federal agriculture minister Marie-Claude Bibeau, “While we respect the rights of all Canadians to protest, the unlawful occupation of major border crossings must end. Our hardworking truckers are essential to the function of our agriculture and food supply chains and to the efficiency of our economy.” We will soon see how this continues to pan out.

On another note, buyers are having some relief with feed grain pricing on the decline. Feed Barley is currently trading for approximately $420/mt delivered Lethbridge for limited space in February and March deliveries. Corn on the other hand has been on the rise, we are seeing Corn bids around the $412-$415/mt delivered Lethbridge for March/April movement. The spread between barley and corn has been getting less and less the last few weeks. For many feedlots that have moved to Corn from Barley or Feed Wheat, they may have to stick with corn now regardless of Corn becoming more expensive than barley, as it may not be good to switch their rations at this point for the animals.

Also sliding in price is #1 Canola. It’s been tough trade in the last week and sellers are not on board with this shift. As one buyer explained it, “Currently #1 Canola is too expensive to export, and the crush plants are full.” Something’s got to give.

Seller’s tip: Buyers seem pretty covered for February movement. We can get better prices for May/June movement if you can wait on moving your grain. Let’s work on marketing your grain and talk strategy. Call 1-888-969-5552
