Holiday Traditions
As we approach the last few weeks of 2019 now is the time to reflect on the year and it’s time to break out the Christmas traditions. You may have a favorite Christmas dish or activity you get to do every year and it makes your year feel complete. Or maybe you are still looking for a tradition to add to your Christmas. We have a few traditions that we do every year that, if missed, make Christmas feel off and not complete.
One tradition that I wanted to share with you is my Mom’s ham recipe. This is one of my favorite foods around Christmas time. Growing up I can remember my Dad would always rip recipes out of the Western Producer and stick them on the fridge in hopes my mom would make them. She hardly ever made them, but it was the thought that counts. Maybe, ladies, this is one of those recipes that will end up on your fridge and be added to your collection of recipes.
Traditions are like grain marketing, every year you need to follow a similar path or else it may throw you off and it may leave you feeling lost. For example, every year you know you may need cash flow or bin space before December that’s why you need to either pre-contract or sell some off the combine. You know you don’t need to book all your supplies in, but you know that you usually need to act so that come December you are not scrambling and regretting your choice. As humans, we are creatures of habit and we don’t like change. As much as people tell us we should change something or try something it can be harder when you have done something for so long.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. And I hope you get to try out the ham and who knows maybe it will become a new tradition for you.
